ALCO Energy Canada Integrates Whitefox ICE® to Boost Efficiency, Increase Production, and Cut Emissions

Aylmer, ON, Canada, June 9, 2025 Whitefox Technologies is pleased to announce the successful installation of the Whitefox ICE® membrane dehydration system at ALCO Energy Canada (formally IGPC Ethanol Inc.), in Aylmer, Ontario.

This project increases ALCO’s ethanol production capacity by just over 50 million liters per year (13.5 million gallons/year), an increase of 15%, while also making the plant operate more efficiently throughout distillation and dehydration.

Representing Whitefox’s 18th installation and first project in Canada, it marks a significant step in the company’s North American growth strategy and commitment to improving the overall efficiency of the ethanol industry with cutting-edge membrane technology.

“We are honored to partner with ALCO Energy Canada, a company that shares our commitment to improving efficiency and sustainability in the ethanol industry,” said Gillian Harrison, CEO at Whitefox Technologies. “Working with Kevin Norton and his team has been a great example of collaboration to push boundaries and shows how existing industrial processes can be made more economically viable as well as sustainable. As we diversify into new geographical regions, this is our first Canadian installation and reflects our support for Canada’s push to increase the blend of sustainable ethanol to de-carbonize the transportation sector.”

Whitefox Technologies has had a strong presence in Canada for over 20 years, with an Engineering and Research and Development center in Calgary, Alberta. This project with ALCO Energy Canada underscores the company’s dedication to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the Canadian ethanol industry.

Whitefox ICE® is a modular, bolt-on membrane solution that works alongside existing Molecular Sieve Units (MSUs) to improve biofuel and industrial plant performance. It targets and dehydrates water-rich recycle streams in a single pass, relieving stress on MSUs and reducing the load on distillation columns. By eliminating process bottlenecks, Whitefox ICE® can boost plant capacity by up to 30%, reduce natural gas consumption by up to 15%, lower carbon intensity by up to 2.5 points, and decrease cooling water demand. Whitefox’s latest advancement, the Whitefox ICE® XL, further enhances efficiency by reducing energy consumption by up to 50% in distillation, dehydration, and evaporation.
