Reflecting on Q2 2024 with Whitefox
As we move into the second half of 2024, we are thrilled to share some of the key highlights and achievements made by Team Whitefox from Q2!
This quarter has been marked by another round of events driving our organization and industry further forward, insightful collaborations, and recognitions that underscore our commitment to innovation and sustainability in the ethanol industry.
Let’s catch up…
Webinar: Ethanol Decarbonization Revolution
Back in May, our CEO Gillian Harrison was joined by Andrea Foglesong for an insightful exploration into the decarbonized future of the US ethanol industry! In partnership with the Digest, we explored the importance of carbon intensity reduction, membrane innovation to pioneer the way to reduce the points, the impact of carbon legislation, and how advanced technologies can offer producers a clear path forward to meet their carbon reduction goals while also reducing operating costs.

Fuel Ethanol Workshop 2024
In June, many of our team headed to Minneapolis to participate in the Fuel Ethanol Workshop (FEW) – for some, it was the first time, others knew the score – and in honor of our British roots, the Whitefox team hosted an evening at the Brit’s Pub, donning soccer jerseys with their names on the back and team number!
As always, FEW was full of great insights and an invaluable opportunity to catch up with our customers.
We had two Whitefox speakers this year…
Outlining our 3R philosophy to Reduce, Reuse, and Reconfigure, our Head of Engineering Virginia Andrade’s presentation highlighted how Whitefox’s innovative membrane technology and strategic design philosophy can help ethanol producers significantly reduce emissions and operational costs while enhancing production capacity by 15-30% and meeting new market demands, such as SAF and green chemicals.
Our Customer Support Team Lead Melanie Zimmer hosted a presentation on the Innovation Stage which highlighted the importance of long-term relationships with customers and the continuous impact of the Whitefox ICE® system.
A notable moment during our time at FEW was the nomination of our CEO, Gillian Harrison, as one of this year’s Women in Ethanol. A big congratulations to Jeanne McCaherty, CEO of Guardian Energy Management, on winning the category. We are in good company with forward-thinkers driving ways to diversify and excel our industry!
Collaborating with Golden Grains’ Dave Sovereign
Collaboration and conversation are a fundamental part of our identity. Back in May, Tony Short, our Chief Commercial Officer, and Dave Sovereign, Director of Golden Grain Energy, LLC and Whitefox customer, explored how farmers and ethanol producers can leverage advanced technologies to reduce Carbon Intensity (CI) scores, optimize production, and drive economic growth in rural communities.

Celebrating Excellence: Awards and Achievements of the Quarter
Envirotech 2024 Insights Report
We were excited to be ranked 15th in the prestigious 2024 Envirotech Insights report by BusinessCloud, which celebrates the UK’s most innovative startups, scaleups and established firms creating original technology for green energy to protect the environment and boost sustainability. This recognition underscores our commitment to driving sustainability in the ethanol industry through innovative carbon reduction technologies.
In the report, CEO Gillian Harrison shares her insights on the future of environmental technology: “With the Inflation Reduction Act, there are significant incentives for US producers to invest in technologies that reduce their carbon footprints. However, certainty in policy is crucial. We anticipate that within the next 12 months, clearer policies will provide the necessary certainty for producers to make swift and impactful decisions.”

Making the Short Lists of Women in Green Business Awards
BusinessGreen’s Women in Green Business Awards showcases women working in the UK’s green economy, and the sustainability-focused companies taking strides to improve equity and inclusion across the industry. Two of our very own were nominated and made the “short lists” of their respective categories, including CEO Gillian Harrison and Head of Strategic Projects Jessica Lopez, who were nominated for Leader of the Year, and Clean Technology Innovator of the Year, respectively.
In addition to the individual nominations, Whitefox appears on the short list for the Business of the Year category, for our work to empower diverse leadership across our team.
More than 420 individuals working across the full breadth of the sustainable business community in the UK were nominated for an award, alongside 80 clean technology and green companies. The winners will be announced at an in-person awards ceremony on October 3rd, 2024, in London.
