PRESS RELEASE
Whitefox Technologies Marks 25th Anniversary with its Pioneering Customers
Celebration honored the US Ethanol Producers prepared to be early adopters, Whitefox’ supportive partners and the Whitefox team.
Omaha, Nebraska, June 16, 2025 – Whitefox Technologies celebrated its 25th anniversary with a Customer Appreciation Event at Gather in Omaha, held following the kickoff of the 2025 Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo. on June 10. The celebration honored the loyal customers whose commitment to innovation made this milestone possible.
The Whitefox team, customers, and partners gathered to celebrate 25 years of innovation and the impact that Whitefox has had in the US ethanol industry since beginning to enter the US market in 2015.
Gillian Harrison, CEO reminisced about the early years of road trips around the Midwest visiting ethanol plants to understand what the commercial objectives were of producers, and which would lead to the development of the Whitefox ICE® solution aimed at helping producers get more out of their existing plants, with less cost, steam, water and emissions. Gillian also spoke of the resolve needed when faced with a constant refrain of, “Sounds like a great solution, call me once you have one installed it in the US, as we like to be first at being third” until eventually coming across Neil Koehler from Pacific Ethanol (now Alto Ingredients) who’s response was, “Gillian, I love to be first!”. From those early days of getting a first ICE® into Pacific and then Pine Lake Corn Processors to 1 billion gallons of total production through its membrane-based systems, it was incredible to now see the first Whitefox ICE®-XL (a membrane only 50 million gallon per year ethanol plant) installed at Western Plains.
Stephan Blum, Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Whitefox Technologies spoke of, “how rewarding it was to see my dream realized of bringing membranes into large industrial plants, ultimately it was only possible because of the collaboration with many partners that helped develop the technology, the customers that put their faith in us and our fantastic team of engineers.”
Awards were given to customers to recognize their contributions in accelerating efficiency in the ethanol industry, for being pioneers and prepared to be early adopters. Honorees included:
• BGW – first ICE for sole membrane dehydration plant
• Chippewa Valley Ethanol Company – longest running cartridges in the US
• E Energy Adams – first ICM plant
• Kansas Ethanol – first ICE Flex plant
• Pine Lake Corn Processors – first plant in the US
• Redfield Energy – first ICE Plus
• Western Plains Energy – first ICE XL
Their ongoing commitment to progress and innovation is driving positive change and moving the ethanol industry forward.

“It was an honor to celebrate Whitefox’s 25th anniversary with a team that’s played such a key role in our plant’s success,” said James Broghammer, CEO of Pine Lake Corn Processors, who has been operating the Whitefox system for 8 years. “Their technology has made a measurable difference in our performance and helped us advance our sustainability goals. We’re proud to be part of their journey.”
The following morning, during the Fuel Ethanol Workshop & Expo, Gillian Harrison received the 2025 Women in Ethanol Award, an honor nominated and voted on by peers across the ethanol industry. The award celebrates outstanding leadership, innovation, and impact in shaping the future of ethanol.
“It’s a tremendous honor to receive this recognition from peers I deeply respect in a category with so many amazing women,” said Harrison. “This award belongs to our entire team, our partners, and the customers who continue to push boundaries with us.”

Founded in 2000, Whitefox Technologies engineers’ membrane solutions for ethanol and industrial chemical production. Since its inception, Whitefox has been installed in 19 plants across 7 countries. To date, these plants have produced around 1 billion gallons of ethanol, with Whitefox systems, these installations have saved the equivalent in carbon emissions to planting 8 million trees. It now looks to introduce its solutions in plants in Brazil and in applications beyond ethanol.
